The Squint Project

The Squint Project, a major project of the Rotary Club of Phoenix, which saw Phase 1 launched in May 2019.

Through the initiative of the club, in partnership with Rotary Club of Thane, India , Dr. Atul Seth and Dr. Siddharth Kesarwari, specialists from India, made the trip to Mauritius. The aim of this visit was to demystify strabismus, to examine children who are affected by it, and to share their know-how with Mauritian doctors.

For five days, from May 13th to May 17th, they looked after some 150 children affected by this disorder, and carried out 27 surgeries at Subramania Bharati Eye Hospital in Moka.

Their arrival was made possible by the Rotary Club of Phoenix which, with the collaboration of that of  Rotary Club of Thane in India, intends to sponsor this project for three years.

The Rotary Club of Phoenix also donated two auto-refractometers, needed for oculo-visual examinations, at the hospital.

These surgeries were done once a priority list was defined by the 2 surgeons from India.

2 Refractometers Donated

These opthalmic auto refractometers are needed for oculo-visual examinations, at the hospital
