Back in 2016, OpenMind was the only NGO in Mauritius focusing on the plight of children suffering from psychological disorders. These children were often excluded from all social and economic activities and ultimately condemns them to isolation and seclusion.

The main objective of OpenMind is to ensure the psychological wellbeing of children by providing support a range of therapeutic programmes based on the development of skills and training in diverse fields including, art-therapy, training in arts and crafts, ecotherapy and hortitherapy aiming towards the social re-adaptation of the beneficiaries.

A Corporate Golf Fundraising event was held on 21 May 2016 to finance the project with over twenty of the top companies in Mauritius participating in the event as part of their ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ activities. The construction of a Therapeutic Room named “Fler Soley’ would consequently provide for a dedicated space devoted exclusively to conducting tests for the psychological assessment of the children.
