Background
Last December (2025), the Rotary Club of Phoenix had the honour of celebrating Christmas with the children and team of the Loïs Lagesse Trust Fund (LLTF).
Established in 1940, LLTF plays a vital role in supporting visually impaired children and young people in Mauritius, helping them grow in confidence, independence and dignity. Their work shapes lives quietly but profoundly.
Objective
Our Christmas gathering was designed to create a space of joy and togetherness. The day brought smiles, laughter, games, shared meals and carefully prepared gifts. It was a moment away from routine, where excitement filled the room and every child could simply enjoy the magic of the season.
What remains with us is the warmth of the interactions, conversations, shared laughter and genuine happiness. These are the moments that remind us that service is about human connection. It is about standing alongside our community and celebrating life together.
As we reflect on that day, we carry forward a renewed sense of purpose, grateful for the opportunity to contribute to memories that will last far beyond the festive season.
